Our World features artwork by young artists participating in Pro Arts’ high school Youth Fellows program.

Youth Fellows partners high school students with professional artists who mentor the students to produce artwork for an art exhibition at Pro Arts.  Since 2007, the program has connected over 350 youth with professional artists. In 2016, Youth Fellows Arts serves 70 youth at Fremont High, Oakland High, Oakland Unity High, Skyline High, Lighthouse Community Charter School and Oakland Technical High School.

Make Art!
Saturday, April 16, 2016 | 11:00 am – 2:00 pm | Pro Arts Gallery

Kids of all ages are invited to a free day of creativity to celebrate the Our World exhibition and Pro Arts’ residencies in 22 Oakland schools. Targeting local youth interested in pursuing careers in the arts, Pro Arts will host a day of art making, printmaking, painting, collage, portfolio reviews, introduction to curators, and more!

In correlation with Make Art!, Pro Arts also presents “Transformative Youth Landscapes”, a workshop with urban planner, activist and artist, James Rojas. Rojas is interested in the way cities are planned and seeing how people work together to create and organize the spaces around them. He invites people to make models of urban landscapes with recycled materials that reflect their own experiences and spark their imaginations about what these places could be.
