Lips of Lapis Lazuli Workshop 3: Collective Vocal Sounding

Please join us for the third workshop in this three-part series of workshops led by composer, Theresa Wong, in conjunction with our current exhibition, Songs for Women Living with War.  Lips of Lapis Lazuli is a musical piece developed through these workshops which utilizes collective vocal sounding.  Drawing on techniques developed by Pauline Oliveros, Wong’s sounding workshops direct participants to embody their experiences through making sounds, as well as listening to and echoing the sounds of others.

This workshop aims to harness the potential and the power of the voice in honor of women who have suffered violence during times of war. Musical training is not required to participate.

The final collabrative piece will be performed at the Songs for Women Living with War Closing Reception on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
