More than 500 people came to visit Box Art/Art Box, the annual silent auction and fundraiser to support Pro Arts. Arts funding was cut to the bone this year. With federal, state, and foundation resources running thin, Pro Arts is especially reliant on contributions from individual donors and members. Contributions at Box Art/Art Box do come with rewards! Over 100 artists provided their ingenuity to raise money for Pro Arts, more than 20 raffle prizes were awarded ranging from spa treatments to Pro Arts Memberships, and local restaurants and bakeries donated delicious treats for the receptions. The exhibit was especially cost effective this year because of the generosity of Tony Bojko, a Berkeley craftsman who specializes in garden boxes and outdoor furniture. Tony donated time and resources constructing more than 50% of the boxes from his own supply of recycled redwood. The list of contributors is overwhelming, and it is clear that the East Bay wants to provide support to artists.
