Since 1979, East Bay Open Studios (EBOS) is the largest art event in the East Bay drawing over 50,000 visitors during the first two weekends in June. EBOS is produced by Pro Arts, a nonprofit artist member driven organization with a gallery near Oakland’s Jack London Square. EBOS includes a Preview Exhibition at Pro Arts gallery, a fundraiser Gala event, a preview art bus tour, artist workshops, an online gallery with works available for sale, Meet & Greet receptions for artists by neighborhood and the East Bay Open Studios Map & Directory for self-guided public tours of artists' studios. Advertising and Sponsorship InformationGreat opportunity to advertise to an enthusiastic and knowledgeable East Bay audience of over 80,000 through distribution in the free weekly publication of the East Bay Express, 1,000 locally canvased posters, 3,000 postcards and 5,000 attendees at the annual Gala and Preview exhibition at Pro Arts. Self Promotion for EBOS 2006If you are creating announcements of any kind (postcards, flyers, e-mails, press releases or posters) you must include the Pro Arts logo and the following statement: "East Bay Open Studios 2006 features up to 500 artists. Artists must present photo ID to retrieve the work. If someone else is to pick up work on your behalf, prior arrangements must be made by sending an email to info@proartsgallery.org. Works will not be released otherwise. Handling fees of $10/evening apply after June 24. Works left after July 18 will be disposed of by Pro Arts. GuidelinesEligibility: Any artist may participate in East Bay Open Studios. You must list a studio, home or exhibition space in the East Bay to register. If you need to find a place to show your work during EBOS, consider attending the Sharing Space Workshop at Pro Arts on Thursday, January 12 at 7pm. Membership: All participants must be current members of Pro Arts. Membership must be renewed if it expires prior to June 18, 2005. Entry Fees: Early Online Registration until December 31: $95; Online Registration January 1 - February 12: $110; Paper Registration: $125; EBOS in the Schools/Student: $45. No refunds. Late Registration: Artists who miss the registration deadline may attend workshops, participate in the Preview Exhibition and in the virtual gallery online for a $125 fee. These artists will not be listed in the EBOS Map & Directory. Images for the EBOS '06 Map & Directory: Upload images online by logging into EBOS registration or deliver a disk with formatted image to Pro Arts. Label disks with artist's name, studio location and contact information. Images must be formatted 1/2" x 1/2", CMYK, 300 dpi, .jpg files only. Images must be received by registration deadline: February 12, 2006 at 5pm. Disks will not be returned. For those who require assistance a computer kiosk at Pro Arts will be available to assist with uploading your image to the database. Participation Benefits:
EBOS Online GalleryMesArt.com will exhibit EBOS artists' work on the internet free for six months from the activation date. Artists will have their own personalized web address with up to 9 images, EBOS directory information, resume and biography, personal photo, artwork description, e-commerce, guest book, link to another personal website, link to launch e-mail and contact information. EBOS in the SchoolsEligibility: School groups must be from a visual arts class or department in an East Bay college or university, each artist must be a current member of Pro Arts through June 18, 2006 and must identify the same school address and studio location. $45 Per Student Includes: One virtual gallery URL, one exhibition space in the EBOS '06 Preview Exhibition, two back-to-back pages in the Artists' Book. All members of the group are eligible for free admission to workshops. Student groups must fill out one Registration Form per group and send it in with full payment for each artist. Incomplete group registrations and those not paid in full will be returned. No changes or additions can be made to group registrations once submitted to Pro Arts.
