East Bay Open Studios 2005 Artist Information

Preview Exhibition: April 28 - June 12, 2005

Open Studios dates are June 4, 5, 11 & 12, 2005, 11:00am - 6:00 p.m.

Artist Registration for East Bay Open Studios 2005
opens November 9, 2004 - closes February 5, 2005.

Two weekends every June, artists throughout the East Bay invite the public into their workspaces to sell art, meet new people, gain exposure, and build mailing lists.

Deadline for submissions is Saturday, February 5, 2005. This event requires each artist to be a member of Pro Arts. Fees include a listing in the Map & Directory, Virtual Gallery with MesArt.com (and your own personal URL), space in the Pro Arts Preview Exhibition, Artists Books, and more. The exhibition opens April 28 and runs through June 12. East Bay Open Studios dates are Saturdays and Sundays, June 4, 5, 11 & 12, 2005.

All late registrations and studio information must be submitted to Pro Arts by February 18, 2005. No exceptions. Late registrations must include a $20 late fee.

EBOS Map & Directory

Copies of the East Bay Open Studios Map & Directory will be available for artists to pick up at Pro Arts during installation for the Preview Exhibition, April 21 -24.

EBOS Map Location Confirmation

1. Download the Artist Map Proof spreadsheet to look up you name and map number. (Map number includes the letter designation of the map and artist number.) To download the spreadsheet, right click (Windows) or click & hold (Macs). Then select "Download link to disk" or "Save link as.."

2. Download the appropriate map to ensure that the map location is correct. They are in PDF format.

3. If the map location requires corrections, please send an email to info@proartsgallery.org with "Map Correction" in the subject line. The body of the email should include your name, existing map number, requested correction and contact information. Example: "My name is Magritte Pollock. My map location is Map J, but I should be on Map M. My phone number is..."

Map locations can also be confirmed in the gallery. All requests for changes must be made either in the gallery or sent in email by 6pm Wednesday, March 16.

Self Promotion for EBOS 2005

If you are creating announcements of any kind (postcards, flyers, e-mails, press releases or posters) you must include the Pro Arts logo and the following statement: "East Bay Open Studios 2005 features up to 500 artists. Pro Arts produces this annual event, along with the Preview Exhibition located at 550 Second Street in Oakland's Jack London Square. This event is sponsored by the City of Oakland and the East Bay Express.

EBOS 05 Events and Workshops

Sharing Space Workshop: January 13, 7 p.m.

Seeking space or have space to share? Pro Arts hosts a gathering for artists to make connections for sharing studio space.

EBOS101 Workshop: February 24, 7 p.m.

This workshop serves as a primer for EBOS. First-timers and those wanting a refresher course are encouraged to attend. Topics include exhibition and map, online gallery, prepping your studio and more!

Marketing Your Studio for Success!: March 17, 7 p.m.

Learn promotional strategies to heighten visibility and increase viewership in your Open Studios area. Meet other EBOS artists who have successfully promoted themselves and their neighboring artists.

EBOS'05 Meet & Greets: Dates and neighborhoods

To encourage meaningful communication among studio artists, Pro Arts is sponsoring neighborhood gatherings for artists to meet their EBOS'05 colleagues and forge connections for promotions. As most of us will be studio-sitting during EBOS'05, the Meet & Greet gatherings present a casual opportunity to get to know artists in surrounding areas before the event. Join your neighborhood, or any other neighborhood!

EBOS Artist tickets $35 (limit 2) / Event tickets $75 Exclusive Preview of East Bay Open Studios Exhibition. A formal and festive evening with live music, performance and champagne to celebrate East Bay arts.

Get on the Art Bus Tour of Pro Arts EBOS 2005: Friday, June 3, 6 p.m.

The Art Bus is an exclusive tour of select artists featured in Pro Arts' East Bay Open Studios. Enjoy private previews of artist studios, wine and hors d'oeuvres on the eve of the event. $75
